Good Start

Thank you so much for your sweet, encouraging comments on my last post.  It was just what I needed, so thank you for taking the time to write.

New Year's Day is one of my favorite days simply because we can lay around and do nothing and it ends up being lovely.  We spent a lot of the day watching my new favorite show via Netflix, Hart of Dixie.  Seriously, I adore it.  It's kinda quirky like my beloved Gilmore Girls.

I did end up having to make a Target-run to get one of the boys some more cough medicine.  I was amazed at all the stuff that was on clearance.  And by the stuff that was not on clearance.  Of course.

I picked up some new notebooks and a planner.  New Year = New Notebooks.

And shoes on clearance.  I also bought a shirt for $5 but the pic won't load.  I'll try again later...since it's so very important for you to see it.  *cough*

And since I'm stuck in the frozen tundra, a new candle to make it smell tropical.  It's like a $10 vacation.

For supper we tried a new Pinterest recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup.  It was super.  The kids didn't like it, but what do those Ramen-lovers know anyways?  And as I write this I can't remember how to get Pinterest recipes on here because it's been so long since I blogged regularly.  Add that to my to do list:  Figure stuff out.

Which reminds me...what the heck is Google+ and how/why do I want to use it?  I know I'm in it, I just don't have a clue.  I have lot's to figure out, but looking forward to getting back in the groove.

I'm hoping to join some blog link things in an effort to stay accountable to posting.  I generally hide from those sorts of things...but it you have one that you are a part of and love, then I'd be happy to copy you. ;)

Got It

And now an actual picture.  Of my favorite new shoes. Minnetonkas.

Apparently all I needed to do in order to overcome by technological block was to blog about it.  Now, we'll see if I can remember how I did it. ;)

For the Love of Glitter

Three boys.

And then a girl.

Totally entertaining for me.

I've heard Dr. Phil say many times, that the most influential person in a child's life is the parent of the same sex.  Our family would be text book Dr. Phil on that point.

My boys love me.  But they most definitely do not want to be like me.  From the time they were little, they were mimicking daddy...regardless of the fact that they spent all day long with me.

I'm cool with that.

Lucy is a whole other story.  She says words in the same tone I do.  She looks around for her purse before we head out the door.  She takes care of her babies all day long.  And sister can dust with a diaper wipe, like none other.

And most importantly...she understands that glitter shoes go with everything.

Notice she's talking on her cell.  Multitasking at its finest.

Glitter is a new favorite at our house.  Thank you Target.

I buy Lucy's squeakers at a cute little shop locally.  They're leather and only $15 there!  You can also get them online here.  This is her fourth pair and we obviously love them. :)  (the squeakers can be removed easily too.)

Glitter is the best.

Then End.

Cute&Cheap

I've been wearing a pair of boots lately that I keep getting a ton of compliments on.  I bought them like a year and a half ago, but haven't worn them a lot until now.  I have no idea why I waited so long, I love them.

Anyways, the conversations usually goes like this:

Them:  "Hey, those boots are super cute!"

Me:  "I know!  They were super cheap!"

Them:  "You wouldn't even need to tell me that, I would never have guessed!"

Silly people.  Don't they know that I get a way bigger kick out of telling them what a great deal they were than I ever would by letting them think they were expensive!?!  Seriously.

So, as you know, Dave Ramsey has me on a strict budget plan, so new boots are out of my clothing budget right now.  But, I just so happened to visit the website, Go Jane where I ordered my cute boots from, and guess what?!?  They have cute boots starting at $13.

I know.  Madness.  I had to share with you.

You are welcome.

Pictures...

Just for the heck of it, I took some pictures yesterday and today. Something I haven't done in quite awhile...

I thought I'd document my increasing belly/decreasing lap. At 15 1/2 weeks the lap still wins.

And the baby bump...

And the purple shoes that I've rekindled that loving feeling for recently...

And a new hair cut that was loooong over due thanks to nausea and barfing...

It's good to feel somewhat normal again. Well, maybe normal is a bad choice of word...it's good to feel like me again.

It's Like Hunting...

Where I live there are four seasons. During the long, LONG frigid winter, if you asked me my fav season, I would tell you spring. By the end of the hot, humid, mosquito infested summer, if you ask me, I will tell you fall. I think my love for the two is because they are both so fleeting. Once you realized they're finally here, they're gone.

I have never lived anywhere that does not have distinct season changes. I can't imagine life without the weather changing...drastically. My frame of reference revolves around the seasons. Which is part of the reason fall fashion is just so much fun! I enjoy it like a hobby...much like a man enjoys golf or fishing or hunting...it's kinda like hunting...except when I find the perfect shoe, I do not kill it.

Can I call myself an expert after reading just one magazine?!? Ummm...on my own blog...I think I can. Plus, my sharing of the in-depth knowledge I now posses from the study of this one magazine may save you $3.99...which could instead be used at Starbucks or something. Excellent.

Apparently the key to trends is to only pick the ones that work for you. And, there are certain things (like dark denim and patent leather ;) that are just classic and do not go in or out. The words in orange are just my humble *cough* opinion.

Here goes. In Bullet list form, naturally.

What's In for this fall: (according to my magazine)
  • Ruffled and fitted jackets love
  • Puffy sleeves cute
  • A-line skirts cute
  • Wide-leg trousers so cute with heels
  • Dark prints undecided
  • Lady-like trend of fitted (or belted) dresses, pencil skirts and ruffles YAY!
  • Layered looks perfect
  • Pleated cropped pants no thanks
  • Skinny belt (over shirts) maybe
  • Funnel-neck tops sure
  • Dark plaids sure
  • menswear flat-front trousers sure
  • High-waisted skirts and pants this ones still new to me...adjusting
  • Short shift dresses I do think these are cute with leggings
  • Spectator heels (both in peep toe and with mary-jane straps) LOVE
  • Drawstring bags (leather) not bad
  • Peep-toe ankle booties ankle booties are growing on me...but the peep toe with them?
  • In denim: distressed and hardware ok...still like the dark best
  • Fringe (leather) I can't do this one...I'm not a fringe girl.
  • Flat shoulder bags LOVE
  • Purple one of my new favorites!

Well ladies, that's all I know for now. What I like about most of these trends is that they're not so "out-there." Much of that stuff I already have from past years ...woo hoo!

Now that I've bombarded you with my opinion, let me have yours!! What do you LOVE?

It Has Begun...

The back to school shopping has begun.

I totally love back to school shopping...well, I love shopping anyways.

We started with shoes. Which may have been a bad place to start. Because ya'll know I have a certain weakness in regards to shoes...even boys shoes (even when the little rascals REFUSE pick the ones I like.) I had (sweet) dreams of my 3 little guys all with matching Converse Chucks (each a different color of course.) They'd be so cute...

They had other things in mind. Skechers. With Airators...which apparently blow air between your toes?!? Anyways, I suppose that's what I get for begging them to watch cartoons so I can have a "second" *cough* to blog. Dang marketing with all their commercials.

The store we went to was having the Buy one get one 1/2 off. Phew.

The Run-down. (Our school requires) The Kindergartner and First Grader each need 2 pairs of shoes. One to wear to school and out to recess (i.e. gets totally trashed) and one pair to wear inside that stays at the school.

The pair in the middle was for the 3 year old...because he still believes me when I say those are the ones he should get (well, sort of, he rejected my first choice.) By Golly, that counts for something.

You should note, that none of them have actual shoe strings...we are

"tie-ing challenged" in our home...do not judge...lest ye be judged. ;)

It's a Trend...

First things first: Black rubber boots are now the staple fashion accessory in

tiny-town...and most of the rest of my state, for that matter. This is me and my little bro totally making the boots work for us before heading out to clean up sludgy stuff. Be glad that my vocabulary is so small, because I can't come up with words to describe to you the smell...give me time, it will come :)

The last time I drove into tiny-town I had a slight melt-down in my van. You know the kind...it involves hiccup-like stuff and lots of snot. (no need to thank me for the visual) BUT, tonight as I drove back in, I heard God speak to my heart.

It was clear.

He whispered, "I know it will never be how it was...watch me make it even better! I am the creator of everything, do you think restoring tiny-town to 1000 times greater is not within my power?!?"

And then I sobbed for a new reason...I heard Him. And I believe Him. He reminded me where my help comes from...and it's not FEMA...it's the Maker of Heaven and Earth. Period.

I knew, three years ago, when we began to hear His whisper directing us to tiny-town, that He had big stuff in store. Today, I can see some of it, and I am still looking with eager anticipation for what He has next.

I wanna Praise Him in this storm because He is with us. Someone left me the words to this song in my comments, and my friend Beth reminded me of it here. Go listen... and whatever your storm happens to be, run to Him.

Bring Normal Back!

I miss normal. Normal, boring, everything in its place life. All talk in tiny town(s) revolves around the devastation left by the tornado...which is okay, because we're all in it together. It binds us together. It's almost therapeutic. It will continue to consume much of my life here in tiny town...but in bloggy land, I need my normal back. I need to write and share other stuff.

So, from now on...I need to blog about other stuff. I'll update you now and then, and feel free to email me and ask how it's going...SO just because I'm back to blogging about....hmmm, whatever it was I blogged about before...just remember that in real life...the tornado talk lives on :)

OK, so for some completely useless information, you should know that I have not put make-up on or done my hair since Sunday morning. I have turned into a grungy slob. BECAUSE, red-patent shoes are not tornado-clean-up friendly...and if I can't wear cute shoes...who cares about the rest of the outfit. Seriously. I really could use some cute gloves or something! A HA! NOW I remember what I blogged about!!! So glad to have normal back :)

New Day!

We had one of those nights last night. The kind where several kids wake up multiple times. One wet through his diaper and all over the bed, another time he needed a drink, one had a bad dream and on the way to tell us, ran into our closet door...you get the picture. But! Today is a new day! YAY!

It got off to a bit of a rough start...It had to do with Noah not liking the new jeans I got him (even though the are the SAME as his old ones!) He's been going to school for weeks in jeans with holes...not matter how many I buy, I can't keep up!

Last night, my bro Ryan, aka The Computer Whisperer, graciously fixed all my computer troubles! He also informed me he's never read a blog. *Gasp* I told him if he really loved me he'd read mine...what are sisters for?!? In 6 weeks he will graduate college and be a "Electrical Systems Engineer" or, as I think it should be called....Computer Guru. Love you, Ryan...even though you'll never read this :)

And, with these little rays of sunshine on my feet, I am ready for a NEW Day! Um...for those of you who remember this, let me explain. I blame it on Wal-Mart really, them and their every day low prices...$7 ...what could I do?!? Shame on them ;)

Happy Friday!!

Painful But SO Worth It...

They're cute...I know. I wore them for Easter, I don't mean just church. I wore them all day long. I did take them off for just a bit, while we went out and hunted for eggs. Rumor has it, that my husbands grandma, who's in her 80's gave them a try! She couldn't resist...I know the feeling. They are my latest love in the shoe world. So...guess what these lovely shoes and....

this wonderful Bible study have in common? PAIN!!!! They have both caused me much pain and suffering this week.

Seeking Him Small Group StudyThe shoes...kill. After church, I had to wrap my big toes, very meticulously, so that the pain from the rubbing would stop, and yet I could not have it showing through the cute peep toe (that was the cause of the pain in the first place!) A little pain has not stopped me before...I have three children to prove that :) These shoes are certainly worth it...and so far, so are my kids. HA!

The Seeking Him study; *OUCH!* Nancy, (we're on a first name basis, she however, does not know this) has been stepping on my toes and pushing me out of my comfort zone all week long! I was going along, totally agreeing with her, and then I got to pages 12-15 "Making It Personal." Yeah...fun times. Hard "Do I?" questions. I found that I had to answer no or I wish for many of the questions. Revival hurts....but is so necessary and worth it...kinda like the shoes :) Okay, okay, more than the shoes!

On a side note...I'm very honored to be mentioned over at www.allthatnaz.blogspot.com go check her out, and I've been reading her other blog (which you'll find after you go to her site) and it's so wonderfully thought provoking and well written. Makes me think I need to take some online grammar/writing classes! Thank you new bloggy friends!

Patent Leather

I love patent leather shoes. Obviously. It wasn't until today that I realized how much I love them. I started out with a plan to blog about my favorite things (which I will do eventually.) As I was gathering things, my red patent flats were a MUST, so I grabbed them. Then I reached for another pair....and then it hit me. How many are there?!? Yep, there's 7. Which probably seems like a lot :) But, considering all the patent leather shoes that I admire often in catalogs, stores, and online, I'm reasoning that 7 is not so bad :) Also, I'm pretty sure that not one of them is actually genuine patent leather. They're more like "shiny pleather", but I love them nonetheless! If only I had some patent leather snow boots...maybe the snow wouldn't seem so bad! On a final note, I am committing to not further feed this
obsession :) If you see my feet in patents other than the ones pictured above, you have my permission to take drastic action....my husband thanks you :)
