I'm Busy...Read My Blog

I found this t-shirt at the Mall of America this weekend.
I thought it was perfect, until I remembered that reading my blog would not actually fill anyone in on life here because that would require me actually blogging. So I just did the next best thing...made Ben take a picture of it and then put the t-shirt back on the shelf. It works. Kinda.

There's an overwhelming amount to tell you... Here's a few highlights:

  • There's a store at the MOA called American Apparel. It has nothing to do with America. It should be called If You Live in the movie Flashdance Shop Here. We like to call this outfit: What Not to Wear on Your First Day of School in America:

I did resist these socks...but it was hard. They would have gone so well with my sweatband I wear while running. Maybe I'll put them on my Christmas list.

I'll jump back on the blogging wagon soon...when all 4 kiddos head back to school.

No worries, I'm keeping track of the good stories ;)

It's How We Do Things...

Question: (In the form of a run-on sentence) Is clean laundry still considered clean if it sat on the couch for two days, while children sat on it like an extra cushion, was tossed on the floor and reassembled on the couch numerous times before finally making its way to the red chair where the dog then decided to make a cushy bed out of it?
Answer: Ab-so-lute-ly.

Littlebit Ugly

Today is the day. I'm going to share with you my own little style secret. Nail-biter moment, I know.
I came up with this little theory after wasting hours of my life investing much time looking through magazines. My favorite is the local CVS Pharmacy. The magazine aisle is directly across from the toy aisle. Genius. The kids gawk and whine about what they want, and I tune them out while flipping through magazines. It's the key to good mothering. *wink wink*

I like the pics when they catch celebs (who you KNOW have been dressed by a stylist no matter how casual they may look) with outfits that make me go hmmm, woulda never put that together, but it looks pretty good.
My style theory and these, my favorite of all dolls, have something in common. They're both cute...and a littlebit ugly all at the same time. Don't deny it, you know it's true.
On with my point: So when I was shopping with friends the other night, I grabbed a shirt and said, "I like this...it's cute...and a littlebit ugly" ...that's how I choose.

Deep isn't it.

My style tip: Something in my outfit should border on the littlebit ugly side. You know, be a little weird, a little off...

Not too weird, now. Too weird puts you into the "what the heck?!?" category...a littlebit ugly gives you your own sense of style. Makes an otherwise boring outfit look interesting.

Be creative...but not too creative...and most important of all....put on some confidence with that littlebit ugly fine fashion accessory. :)

My sweater today: *sorry about the terrible picture* Cute and a littlebit ugly. I kid you not.

Oooh, and if you currently wear anything that's a littlebit ugly and you LOVE it because it works, please please do tell!

Oh Yes I Did...

Last week I read this post at 2nd Cup of Coffee...you should read it (if you haven't) you'll laugh your rear-end off! Plus, if you don't read it first, this post will just not be as clever. Except, please keep in minds that Linda is an actual writer, so after you read her post, please once again lower your reading standards before returning to my blog...many thanks.

OK, so I read that post and commented how I've never worn white pants...and then it got me thinking. Why?!? What's holding me back?!? Time to shake it up a little :)

So, yesterday, for our little shopping trip, I wore these:

And, I kept them clean!! And, they might be my new favorites. Thank you Linda, for inspiring me..and when I get home from vacation I will start the "white pants diet." :) Do you all wear white pants/jeans?!? Go do it...take a walk on the wild side.

  • Important, important information: White Jeans: Target...Converse brand...Streeetchy :)

  • Steve & Barry's...Ben got a pair of shorts, and I left with a red hoodie, but that was it...bummer.

  • Ben got lots of good deals at my FAVORITE store. I left with nothing. Why is it that everything I like is NOT on sale?!?

  • Conference: We just had the opening session last night...I'll wait to fill you in until I can write a full sermon about it ;) Just kidding...ya'll know it will be in bullet points.

More tomorrow...

We Met at TJ MAX

Yesterday, my mom watched the kids for awhile so my sister and I could go shopping...with NO KIDS!!

We went to TJ MAX because I had a lovely gift card burning a whole in my pocket. That's where I met this lovely- shiny- perfect- shade of green- had my name all over it- purse!

I have to share it with you...so that you to may bask in its cuteness. I'm all about sharing the love. Here it is, my friends....Here. It. IS...

Hmmm...glad I could share something so spiritual with you on this Lord's Day. Maybe I should've saved this for tomorrow... *smiles!*

Happy Sunday!

Adjustable

I need to be upfront with ya'll today. I have tried and tried to come up with something other than what I am going to blog about today. But I can't get it out of my head. So, I figure, if I just post about it, maybe it will leave. Maybe.

What could be so important and fascinating that I just can't stop thinking about it?
Adjustable Waist Jeans.

Yep...you read it right. As I got my two year old dressed today...I did the same thing I do every day...I lifted praise to God for adjustable waist jeans. It's true...I happen to think they're genius.

Today though...it went further. I thought to myself, why just the kids jeans?!? I know they have them in khakis for men...but why not my favorite jeans from Express?!?! On those days, when I'm feeling a little extra bloated *ahem* I could just loosen that little elastic band with the button and no one would even know!!!

It would totally obliviate the need for my fat jeans. You know the ones. They're the nice old jeans, a size (or 2) bigger than the regular ones, saved especially for those days. I think I'm on to something...if anyone knows a designer at Express...please fill them in :) I'm just sayin'...

The Process

If you stop by my house today, you will find me upstairs, buried in clothes. Yesterday I started, what I like to call, "The Process." It's the bi-annual shifting of the clothes. This time it's from cold weather to warm.

It is a monumental task...involving many, MANY piles. It is also a 2-day minimum project. Yesterday I got Noah & Eli's closet (somewhat)weeded out, but I ran out of time to dig in the attic to find the containers of warm weather clothing and complete the switcheroo, so the piles that were left from yesterday have now been rummaged through. I should know better.

I am drowning in boys clothes. As many of you know, when you have 3 kids of the same sex, hand-me-downs are FANTASTIC! But...storing them, and sorting them...big job. Here's where the piles come in...
Piles: Jake too small, Eli too small but still too big for Jake, Eli grow into, Noah too small but too big for Eli, Noah grow into, will fit Jake, will fit Eli, will fit Noah, stuff I never want to see again, stuff in bad condition, stuff in good condition...and on and on and on.
The other problem I'm running into is....my attic (where I store everything) is a DISASTER (thanks to me)! I can barely get in there to get the containers in and out...really, someone should do something about that! :) Oh yeah...I guess that would be me.
Today, the to-do list is Jake's closet and mine and Ben's....it's lofty, I know. We have too much stuff (me especially.) Have you ever wanted to just get rid of everything except 5 shirts, pants, undies, etc?!? I know that there are people who do it...and I admire that. I think it would save on laundry...and this whole "process" would be MUCH easier. I'm not that brave yet. Maybe by the end of the day, I will be!
PS - blogger hates me today. It will not keep my paragraphs seperated, no matter how many times I change it. I give up.

Do-Over

*Disclaimer* You should read this post, from today, FIRST...otherwise, the following is not funny...at all.

After visiting Dull As Dishwater today, I felt the need to take this quiz. The need, today, was wrong.

The following PROVES, once and for all, that I am a seriously bad test-taker! Always have been and apparently I always will be.

How appropriate that, on the day I post about being a tiny-town girl, I take a quiz that tells me I should live in the big city. Hilarious!

I am not loafers....I am simply a terrible quiz taker. :)

Why couldn't I be flip flops!?! I need a do-over.

You Are Loafers

You are confident, powerful, and successful.

Hard working and business like, you always dress and act appropriately.

You are consistent and a bit conservative.

You aren't really susceptible to trends, although you always dress well.

While you tend to be formal, you know how to adapt to your surroundings.

So are professional at work... but more laid back when your with your friends.

You should live: In a huge city

You should work: In a competitive field where you can rise to the top
