Everything in One Post = Overkill

This once a week blog post thing is really quite boring. I apologize.

Some random updates for you:
  • Monday night I went into the hospital because I'd been having regular contractions. By the time they hooked me up to the machine thingy, they had stopped. We'll just call it a trial run. The bonus was that Ben and I got to watch the end of Amagedon while at the hospital. And, we were both reminded of how absolutely wonderful the nurses there are. Five more days and we get to go see them again...for the real deal this time. :)
  • Tuesday and Wednesday I came down with some weird viral thing. Nausea, fever/chills, sorta comes and goes. Ben was here to take care of me during the worst of it. He reminded me of what true love really is...sometimes it involves making 100 trips up and down the stairs filling the bathtub with pots of boiling water because your wife has used up all the water in the water heater and is still cold in the tub. I love that man.
  • Today I'm feeling much better. Even having some coffee. Totally looking forward to some more nesting in the next few days.
In other news:

Ben came up with the idea of planting a garden (at his grandparents home in the country) this year. At first I was a little skeptical...and by that I mean lazy. Gardens seem like an awful lot of work. Last Summer I was annoyed with the two tomato plants we'd planted because I didn't know what to do with all the tomatoes. Can you imagine me with a garden of produce?

After chatting about it for awhile, I realized the garden wasn't really about the produce anyways. It's about the process.

As parents, we've been lamenting a bit about how our boys sometimes don't want to work for things. We live in a culture that wants to take the easiest way possible in order to attain something. I'm entirely guilty of this. I'm perfectly fine with store bought canned green beans if it means I don't have to pull weeds and get dirty. Makes sense to me.

When we presented the boys with the idea, there were mixed reactions. Which reinforced the fact that they need a little hard-labor under their belts. ;) God gives us so many practical and spiritual lessons from the land He's created. Sowing and reaping. Hard work in the planting, the labor it takes to keep the weeds from over-running everything, and the joy of the harvest. It's not just a lesson for my boys...it's for me to. It's a family ordeal.

There's bound to be whining and complaining along the way, but we're praying God uses this time to teach our boys (and us) that things in life require hard work. I want them to learn that just because something is hard, and takes awhile, doesn't mean we avoid it...it means we work hard and see it through. I want boys who grow up to be men who aren't afraid to do hard things.

Saturday, April 10th we started the process. I'm hoping to document it all the way through. Eventually, I'll even be able to bend over again and help...with a baby strapped to my back. :) In the mean time, here's my 38 week preggo shadow.

There, I think you're all caught up now. Oh wait...I can't stop listening to this song: If you can be in love with a song, then I am in deep.

A Tad Embarrassing...

Something has happened at my home (the parsonage.)
I thought about taking pictures of it, but in my head, I could hear your gasps of horror...and it was just too much.
The weeds have taken over.
It is so bad, that I am having to ask other people if certain things are a weed or a plant. Generally, the weeds are small, and the plants are larger...but not here.
They are the same size here.
Frightening.
Also embarrassing...but let's not discuss that.
I may go out and pull weeds/flowers today.
Unless is rains.
Please God, make it rain.

Name Change

Just thought you should know that these flowers have a new name. I know, I know, you think you already know the name for them...but its changed my friends.
It. has. changed.

They are no longer some sort of Lillies, they are now called "Church Flowers" Can you guess why?!? Yep. We have them around our church, so our boys have re-named them. Wanted ya'll to know so the next time you went to the greenhouse, you could use the correct terminology and not feel all "outta the loop."

Your Welcome, my friends...no need to thank me...I know you'd do the same for me ;)

Side note: The above church flowers are not the ones from our church...they are from when we went on vacation. They live at Baker's Square...where we ate breakfast before heading home. The flowers were not the only beautiful sight at Baker's Square.
Check this out:
*sigh* I did resist the urge to cry, because I would have LOVED to have taken advantage of that sweet offer and eaten French Silk Pie until I was sick...had I only seen this sign before! Divine intervention, my friends...divine intervention.

I'm a Shoe-In...

Remember when I told you about planting flowers? Yeah, I didn't think so, better go here to refresh your memory.

Here is a picture of where I planted those bulbs...

See them?!? Nope, me either...that's a weed. Dang it.

On that particular post, The Preacher's Wife commented that I should enter her Garden Tour. Are you laughing hysterically!?! You should be. Is there a prize for the WORST Gardener? Because then I'll totally enter...I'm a shoe-in.

Happy Saturday lovely bloggy friends!

Hmmmm

For some reason, I can't seem to come up with anything other than randomness on Mondays! Why is that?!? It brings back the words to a song that I recall loving in Jr. High..."Things That Make Ya Go Hmmmm." HA! Please tell me I'm not the only dork out there who remembers this song :) ...after this post I will have to venture off to You Tube and find it...it's a tad-bit frightening...all you can find on there!

Sorry for the random bullet list...
  • This weekend was fairly uneventful, but fun and relaxing...which I always enjoy!
  • Yesterday I planted flowers and did some yard work. I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. We'll see if anything grows/stays alive. I planted some elephant's ears bulbs...by myself...I mean no supervision. Afterwards, my husband asked how deep and in what direction I had planted them...I explained how I dug a hole...yay deep, and then tossed in the bulbs, covered em up and watered. Done. He went into an explanation of how they should have been placed in the hole...while in my head I thought to myself how I would add "hire a Gardner" to my list of "Things I would hire done if I came into a ginormous sum of money"....which now makes me think that I should do a post on THAT! ...maybe tomorrow.
  • God keeps taking me to Psalms 119...I LOVE it in the Living translation. Today I'm thinking on V7-8 "After you have corrected me, I will thank you by living as I should! I will obey! Oh don't forsake me and let me slip back into sin again."
  • My house is a disaster....kind of like it barfed up its innards all over. Gross. But sadly...true. I'm off to start cleaning now...until lunch, and then, since it's finally nice out...I'm going to sit outside and try to give my pasty-white skin some color...but not in my swimsuit. So NOT in my swimsuit...just for the record :)

Happy Monday, friends!
