I'm Listening To...

I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite songs as of late.  And by "favorite" I mean I'm listening to them on repeat over and over and over...and over.  I don't know if regular people do this?  But I do.

Jesus, Friend of Sinners is by far my most favorite song on the new Casting Crowns album.  The message, the reminder...I adore the whole song...open our eyes to the world at the end of out pointing fingers...break our hearts for what breaks Yours.  I'm thankful for songs that change me.  This one does.

The next song is one of my new favorite running songs.  It has some amazing base (that you won't hear through the youtube video;) that may literally mess with the rhythm of my heart.  If I kill over while running, check my ipod, I think you'll find this song playing.

Happy Friday Everybody!

  2. GAH! Newsboys ROCK. I'm not even a runner. And now, I am addicted. Did they come out with a new album recently, like the rest of the Christian world?

  3. I downloaded "Jesus, Friend of Sinners" after listening to it on your blog post and wanted to share its impact on me. I have 3 grown children, the oldest a son now in his 30's. Three years ago he told us he is gay. I have struggled and struggled with his lifestyle. How do you balance loving unconditionally without condoning his sin? If I welcome his partner into our home and lives, am I saying we're okay with how he lives?

Yesterday I had a 5-hour drive and listened to this song again and again. (Yes I do that too when I find a new song I like!) I cannot tell you how much it ministered to me. "No one knows what we're for only against when we judge the wounded. What if we laid down our signs, crossed over the lines and loved like You did."

This mother's heart was healed just a little bit more, hearing confirmation from the Lord that I just need to love my son as Jesus does. I'm not his judge.

  4. Jody, I have no words for how much your comment means to me...knowing God is using that song to speak truth to you, just like He is to me, brings a joy I can't quite explain. Thank you so much for coming back and sharing. And praying for you and your family as you love your son...through the strength of the Holy Spirit. I'm so glad He can deal with however "messy" life sometimes is.
