Say Hello

I normally pay very little attention to my sitemeter. However, yesterday I decided to check up on my stats and junk. And then I wasted some more time looking through some of my old posts.

And then I started to feel a little bad.

Next month will mark my 2 year blogging anniversary. TWO YEARS. I spent the first year trying to build a group of blog friends. And once that happened, I got totally lazy. I'm lucky to blog twice a week now.

I also realized that the number of visitors a day that I used to have to blog for, now visit whether I've posted or not. And then I thought to myself...poor people. Here they are, clicking over hoping to find something new and instead, there sits the same boring post from 3 days ago.

Sorry 'bout that.

I've gotten lazy about posting, lazy about reading and commenting, and especially lazy when it comes to visiting any new blogs...and I know I'm missing out on some really great people and content.

Time to figure out where I'm going with this thing again. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl. Either I do this, or I don't...but this barely maintaining is just not gonna work for me.

Time to jump back into this! And...I've heard that today is National De-lurking Day...which means if you are one of those lovely readers who reads but doesn't leave a comment because you're sick of my lack of posting, then today is your chance say hello...and then you can go back to hiding, I promise.

Or you can just say hello. And if you blog, then I can come visit you, and we can be friends.

Introduce yourselves.

Happy Day to you!

  1. Hey Sarah
Just stopped by to say hello. It's so easy to get lazy with this blog thing. Sometimes I just don't have any thing and sometimes I have so much I don't know where to start. Oh well, still fun!
    Blessings.....

  3. I've been "lurking" on your blog for a while. I'm not sure who's blog I linked from, but I LOVE to run! So I was very excited to read your 1/2 marathon journey. I'm a terrible blogger and don't update enough, so I think twice a week is awesome!

  5. I feel ya Sarah! I go through spurts where I am all about the blogging, and then big lulls where I just don't feel like I have anything worth while to say! haha! All is well and I still love to read when yours pops up! God Bless!

  6. Well if it's an "all or nothing" kind of thing with you, I hope you choose "all" --I love your blog :)

In fact, yesterday was my "one year anniversary" of blogging and as I was thinking about it, I've "met" a lot of bloggers who are now my "friends" via your blog. So thanks :) Yours was one of the first I read and I still enjoy it -- even when you don't post much ;)

  7. I go through the same thing with my blog and go days without posting. But, I hope you keep on blogging because I really like to read your posts.

  8. I've missed seeing you around as much! But I hear ya...I feel like I go in waves with the whole blog thing. I have you in my reader so when you post I always read but I can get lazy with clicking through to comment.

  9. I am not sure how I found your blog, but I love it! I have not kept up my own blog either, but I am busy with 4 month old twins. Your blog makes me smile.

  10. Hey Sarah..

I am not really sure if I have commented before...but I have read for awhile... my two year is in March!

  11. Yep, totally get the lazy thing!
Their are those that I read pretty much everyday, yours being one. I love hearing what you have to say.

  12. I know exactly how you feel! Sometimes I go for days and days without posting. I love reading your blog though...I have three boys too! Can't wait to hear what #4 is! :) We are still contemplating/praying about whether or not we are finished. Love your blog!!!

  13. Hello...National Delurking Day, did you make that up?!! I've been a follower for awhile, I only comment here and there. I'm not a good commenter, I'm a good lurker.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, I am a big lurker who comes out of hiding quite seldomly. You might have seen me a time or two, but I tend to read more than comment. Thanks for asking us to reveal ourselves, and thanks for continuing to blog. I've found that blog content is more important than frequency, and I always find your posts to be enjoyable.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hello! I'm definitely a lurker, but one of my goals this year is to comment more on the blogs I read. I am a mother of 3 and always enjoy your posts!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Is it really national delurking day or did you make that up? :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. does it really matter? you can make me smile once a week, once a day or once a month.
    love ya! either way!
you CANNOT stop blogging though, really.

  19. Hello Sarah,
I have been reading your blog for +/- a year. Your words are encouraging, informative, funny. I applaud you for sharing your thoughts, family and adventures.
I enjoy reading what you are up to. I would have to say that I don't comment very often or at all. I have resolved to comment more on blogs that I read.
Thank you for continuing to blog, because I enjoy your thoughts!!
    Have a great day!

  20. You had me a little scared when you said "all or nothing". I've had two of my favorite blogs just close up shop for the same reason. Glad you are jumping back in it!!

  21. For the record: National De-lurking Day is real...I'm pretty sure :)

Funny enough, I discovered it today over at Lifenut, which is a blog I mostly lurk at because I can never come up with something to comment that doesn't make me sound like an idiot on her blog. Love her.

  22. Hello! I admit, i'm a lurking, but I have commenting I think once or twice. I don't even remember how I found your blog but it was a long time ago. I just love reading what you have to say. I love your closeness with God and the different things you post on. You are inspiring. You have written a few posts that I have acutally said, wow, I could have written that exactly, that is exactly how I feel. Anyway, thanks for making me come out of my shell, and thanks for posting. I don't mind that you only have 1 or 2 a week, (that is how mine is too) I feel it is quality vs. quantity. :)

  23. Hi Sarah! Yes, I am a blog-stalker of sorts! I am from NH as you now know so of course I *kind of * know who you are. I cannot remember how I came across your blog, but I have enjoyed reading it! Congrats on the baby! Cortney

  24. I've been reading (and sometimes commenting on) your blog for quite a while now and I enjoy the things you say. We are at different stages in our lives because I have girls and mine are older and I'm quite a big older than you too. But I'm a pastor's wife in a fairly small town too and I can relate to some of your posts. Plus I enjoy blogs that talk about things that I don't know about so I can learn more. I loved hearing about your anticipation of your exchange student and then actually seeing and hearing about her here too.
I think we all go through times of not having a lot to say but that's just life. I hope you don't quit blogging.

  25. National De-Lurking Day?! That's great!

  26. I'm pretty sure I've been here since the beginning (thanks to Beth) ... and I'm still here :)

Happy Thursday! here's to some great posts, new friends, and comments :)

  27. Oh please please choose "all"! I love your blog and I'd hate it to be "nothing". I'm Leah, we emailed once a little while ago... but mostly I am a lurker :) The lack of blogging is understandable though, you've got a full house and probably quite a full schedule! Hope everyone in the parsonage and tiny town is doing well.

  28. Oh please choose "all".
I don't know if I've ever commented or not but do read your posts.
    I love them because
    a) you're a christian woman
    b) the mother of boys(which I am but mine are grown)
    and
    c) you're a fellow midwesterner.
I hear you though. My first year, I blogged alot and this past year it's been once every week or so. I am hoping to pick it back up more this winter though.
    Keep up the good work!

  29. Hi Sarah,

Your blog is my favorite blog to read. Being a stay at home mom myself, and close in age, I can relate to a lot of your posts. I hope you continue to keep your blog going, even if you can't update more often. Its worth the wait when you do:)

    God Bless

  30. I've been lurking off and on for a while and occasionally comment. I think the general consensous is keep going with whatever you can. As your readership, we like to check in every day just to see.:) If you post weekly or daily, we'll still be here.
I also like to see what's going on "back home". We miss the midwest but are learning to live in the south.

  31. I love your blog, how you articulate what is going on in your life, your mind, your heart.....whatever you write, whether it is randomness or down-right profound...I enjoy it much....I connected to your log from my cousin your friend Michelle.....I can relate as a mother, a christian, a midwesterner.....ahem...I'm delurching today since it's the holiday.....

  32. Your blog makes me smile and think, and sometimes, laugh right out loud so my kids give me a funny look!
(and that happens whether you post once a week or once a day!)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I don't even remember how I found your blog, but I love reading it. I feel like I can identify with you, I live in the midwest (Minnesota) and have small children.(Only 2 though)

  34. Hello! I haven't been reading for long...I found you through Kelly at Love Well (I think). I enjoy when you do post. But, don't feel pressured...you are a busy lady! :)

  35. Hi Sarah!
I'm new to the blogging scene and have kept an eye on yours and one other! And this is my first comment on a blog - ever! We share similar interests: faith, family, and torturing others (still waiting to hear what baby #4 is)!

    Thanks for sticking with it!

  36. Hi! I didn't know there was such a thing as National De-Lurking Day!

I think I came over from The Domestic Fringe.
    Nice to meet you.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If you think YOU'RE lazy at blogging, this might make you feel better. I haven't blogged since November... and the last few times I did, it involved references to Sir Mix-a-Lot and Leg Warmers!

And this is totally random, but I must tell you that I'm convinced you will totally LOVE Ted Dekker's Black, Red, White, Green books. I wasn't sure if you read comments on posts that were several days old, which is why I write this here.

But I have to WARN you!!! I read them at the request of a friend. When I started Black, it was really hard for me to get into it. It jumped around too much, and I just thought it was dumb. BUT, I persevered since my friend spoke so highly... and BAM! One moment, it just clicked, and I devoured the entire series in like one week.

(Well, except for Green. I haven't read that one because it wasn't written yet, and I read the others so long ago, I feel like I need to revisit them before I read Green.)

    Happy reading!

(Oh and one more thing. None of us care if you are a blogging slacker. We WOULD, however, care if you stopped blogging altogether. It might even result in mutiny. So I wouldn't recommend it.)

There you have it. Your new t-shirt slogan. Front: "Some blog for sanity." Back: "I blog to prevent mutiny."

    I think it's kinda catchy. ;)

  38. Hi, I didn't know there was a "de-lurking" day so hello!!! I found your blog about a month ago but I am terrible at leaving comments. I love you blog and hope you continue to post.

  39. I can't remember the last time I may have left a comment~I should really comment more!
Very belated congrats on the pregnancy!!

  44. "De-Lurking Day?"

    Didn't know that.

I feel the same way. I don't post nearly as much as I used to and find it hard to go to any new blogs because I'm still trying to keep up with all my old blogging friends. Guess that's what this is all about, huh? Making blogging friends.

You know I'm always here. Love you too, by the way.

I was just thinking we've been blogging friends for quite a while now. I started blogging a little over 2 years ago too. I remember the day I found you and I thought you and I were like long-lost sisters.

OK, this comment is getting creepy and stalkerish. I'll stop and leave it at that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi Sarah, I am a lurker, sorry! :) I learned about your blog from Katie at The Baby Factory. Your words are often inspiring and from the first post I read I was hooked. It hit me just right the day I first read it and now you are part of my fave websites I visit. Anyway, I hope that's not creepy but even if you only post now and then...for those of us who don't blog and are often touched by others who do...please keep up the good work and give yourself a break. :)

  46. Hi, Sarah! Love your posts!

  47. Ok I am saying hello & don't let a blog become a dreaded "should". Know what I mean? As a young & busy mom, you have enough legitimate "shoulds" you can use this as a random place to vent or be creative when the mood strikes you.
At least that's my opinion on it!
You have permission to write when you WANT to!

  48. I have been reading for well over a year. Don't stress about blogging. Life will always have different seasons! Enjoy the one your experiencing right now. Congrats on baby #4!

I have read for a while now but I don't comment often if ever. I love your blog and think your boys are awesome. I am a momma to 3 (1 girl 2 boys) my-self and I am going to be (once again) a SAHM as of tomorrow (it is my last day at work tomorrow). I am looking forward to blogging more myself. Congrats on the new little person you are growing!

  55. well, de-lurking day must mean I come out from hiding. I'm just starting to blog, after a year of lurking all over the blogosphere! I feel God calling me back to writing as a way to process what has been a really ugly year in my life.

Love your blog and your genuine, unpretentious voice!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sarah, it is very understandable. You are a mom of several young boys and one on the way. Don't feel bad because I started just this past fall and used to write daily but then facebook came along and it seemed to stop. Now I am lucky to do once a month. Lately I try to get on weekly. I do like to read your post but you need to take care of yourself too. Love in Christ

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm still here... but I only visit when it I see something new as a 'follower'. I am not doing a great job of regular posting... but I am doing what I can.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think I've been reading your blog from early on. I don't comment often, I think I may have a few times, but I always enjoy reading whatever you write about:)

I love that you're candid and honest and your random posts are always so fun and make me smile! You keep things real! So happy blogging...no matter how often, or not, it is:)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I understand your thoughts completely. I've been blog-lazy for the past 6 months, maybe more! I think FB has taken over, its quick and easy, blogging requires sitting down, thinking, pondering, and I've done little of that......so I'm trying to make a conscious effort to do it several times a week! Thanks for putting yourself out-there too! Blessings. . . . .

    ReplyDelete
  60. I don't comment much but read every post! I know how you feel, I've been lazy with my blog for the last 6mos, can't seem to find my blogging mojo but I refuse to give up yet! Keep at it, it's okay if you don't post everyday, we'll still be reading! I imagine it will be even harder when you are busy with new baby!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Delurking to say hi from a fellow parsonage dweller ... I love to read your posts because it feels like reading my own mind (if you would replace "3 boys" with "3 girls." God bless you and your fam! And more posts on cute shoes! :)

  62. I don't consider myself a lurker exactly because I think I've commented here before. I found you through the Random Dozen hosted by Linda one week a while back.

I think nearly every blog has its ups and downs so don't be too hard on yourself. From what I've seen I don't think I'd describe you as lazy : )

My one year blog anniversary is next week. I've loved the experience and have enjoyed 'meeting' so many new friends in the blogosphere.

    Have a nice weekend!

  81. Well, it will be obvious that I am not the best commenter - since I am writing this 5 days since you wrote this post (and I read it on Google Reader) but just wanted to say HEY!
