- I have been watching a ridiculous amount of football. And generally, every team I'm rooting for...loses. I like the Packers, because my oldest son Noah likes the Packers. Last night I was rooting for the Cowboys because my brother loves them...and they won. Next week the Packers play the Cowboys, and because it is against my nature to remain neutral I must pick a side. I'm gonna go with the Pack. See, I told you...it's gotten out of hand people.
- My same little brother who likes the Cowboys (who I call little, but he's actually almost 21 years old...but to my almost 32 years it makes him little) was dealt a blow this past week. He found out that he is diabetic. Very diabetic. It sorta came outta no where, with no family history...and so he's adjusting. And because I'm his big sister, and pregnant, I did my share of crying for him...because giving up the sugar...is something to cry about.
- I am very much on the verge of getting some Christmas decor out...just the greenery and lights...maybe. I love Thanksgiving, I do. I love it even more when I celebrate it with Christmas decor ;)
- I am very annoyed with my pants that won't stay up. It's only gonna get worse as my belly gets bigger. I'm thinking it's time to bring suspenders back. Wait, I take that back. I don't' think suspenders were ever in to begin with...let's start it.
- I am utterly and completely annoyed with our House of Representatives. Praying the Senate has some more sense.
- I finished the book Methland this weekend. I can't even tell you how disturbing it was. Made me want to crawl back into the bubble I live in...you know, with shiny happy people holding hands...now that song is gonna be in my head all day. Hate when that happens.
I think that's enough random for one day.
& i, too, will be singing a song about shiny happy people. however, i only know a few lines, so it will be annoying very, very quickly.
ReplyDeletemy middle son asked me just about an hour ago if we could get the Christmas decorations out. I had to say no, but secretly really, really, really wanted to.
annoyed with the HofR too, although living so far away has made me quite ignorant of American going's-ons. And really, I kind-a like it that way. (until we move back someday & everything's changed...
I don't know what was more disturbing to me that fact that you are rooting for the Packers or that you want to bring suspenders back. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe are insane about football here too.
I am sorry to hear about your brother, my sugars were high at the last appointment so, yeah giving up sugar causes great amounts of stress.
As for the Christmas decorations I say GO FOR IT, nobody can stop a pregnant woman on a mission! And you are one month littler to decorate that tree. ;)
And I'm praying for the Senate too. Don't get me started. grrr.
Oh, I adore suspenders...no kidding! :) Do it!
ReplyDeleteAgreed with Above Sarah - "one month littler" Might as well decorate now! :)
Sorry to hear about your li'l bro. I agree that it would be a tough adjustment! It's good he has a loving and compassionate sister such as yourself to sympathize with a no-more-sugar diet!
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Sarah
Yes, I too am itchin' for the Christmas decor. Driving through our tiny town today I saw that little white lights were being placed in the trees! Made me smile! I have waited so long to have Christmas with children... I can hardly wait!
ReplyDeleteI too have been watching way more football than normal since our team, the New Orleans Saints are undefeated. Louisiana is in an uproar. Pigs are literally about to fly.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your brother.
Christmas decorations? Seriously? As La Petite Belle would say, "People forget all about Thanksgiving and go straight to Christmas." Guess I'll have to wait now.
I'm so sorry to hear about your brother!
ReplyDeleteAlso: you need to add the Saints to your cheering list! :)
Ditto on the annoyance with the House.
hmm suspenders... i wonder if that would help me... i have resorted to walking around with my normal pants on, just unbuttoned.... must fix that soon, i know. I just wanted to make it out of the first trimester before i pulled out the maternity clothes!
ReplyDeleteMy husband was diagnosed with diabetes at age 22. I imagine the same kind. It was pretty difficult in the beginning for him. Especially the idea that his VERY young body wasn't working right. Praying for your bro.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great sister and please don't change your randomness... I love it!
I heart how you make things with no point one of the most interesting things about my day :)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you about the house of reps. And on a Saturday when everyone is too busy watching football to pay attention, no less....
Pants are one of the worst things about being pregnant. I'm convinced. I'm really enjoying this 5 month stint of not being pregnant. Its going to continue for awhile, I think....a long while.
Super bummed about your brother! Hopefully it will be an easily maintained version....sorry I know so very little about diabetes, but losing sugar would be devastating.
so I am staying away from football when I can......which is hard in this house.
ReplyDeletebut I did want to tell you that my mom was diagnosed type 1 diabetic in her 60s...no family history. She is the oldest on record to be diagnosed with type 1. But here is the good news, you don't have to give up sugar..you just have to moderate and be careful. There are so many great advances in diabetes right now. It would be great if he could find a support group near him. I think you learn more from others that have it than from the docs!!
You could SO rock suspenders. I have contemplated every possible idea to keep my pants up...I've taken to wearing sweats pretty much anytime I'm not at work. For some reason the elastic in the waistband holds stronger than any other stretchy-waisted pants. Woot woot!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to put some Christmas stuff out too. I have been listening to Christmas music!
ReplyDeleteI am, too, bummed about the House.
ReplyDeleteSo Methland? Seriously? Ok, if that creeped you out, watch the movie "13." It's soo disturbing but really every parent must watch it - not with the kids around! Also, sorry to hear about the diabetes. Is it juvenile or late onset? Mike's cousins - 10 and 6 have juvenile and it's sooo sad. They have little pumps they must wear all the time.
ReplyDeleteMethland.. hum.
ReplyDeleteThat stinks about Jay :( Praying for him today. Have I mentioned lately that I can't believe that your going to have a baby.. yeah!
Sorry to hear about Jay. We will say some prayers for him!
ReplyDeleteha! i'm gonna try telling David I will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving more if the Christmas decorations are out!
ReplyDeletePoor Jay. That royally stinks. I hope the transition to a new way of eating is smooth for him.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I WATCHED them debate on C-SPAN and it was painful to watch. Oh government, there has to be a better way.
I fully expect to see suspenders in your family Christmas photos.
all my relatives live in wisconsin. GO COWBOYS! i'm afraid you'll be disappointed!
