You Asked For It...

Since I'm unable to shut up about my iPod and the wonder if itunes I've decided to give you the names of the 15 songs I've purchased from there.

I'm sure it will be life changing for you. *cough*

Also, pretend there's a little disclaimer here for my pastor husband. It says something like... the husband of this woman is in no way responsible for her music choices(no matter how ridiculous I think they may be), she is a grown woman of God and I allow her to exercise her free will that Christ has given her. Or something like that. Ben and I have completely different musical tastes. We have some common ground, but let's just say Donnie and Marie sang it best with she's a little bit country, and he's a little bit rock and roll...except we're reversed, and I'm not even sure if that's how that song goes....whatever.

Moving on.

This has got to be the most random list of songs ever purchased from itunes.

In random order: (I've linked to the song when I could, just so you can hear it if you haven't before...you'll have to go to itunes to get the real deal)

Sweetly Broken by Jeremy Riddle (About my first love)

Free to be Me by Francesca Battistelli (new one for me, love her voice)

By Your Side by Tenth Ave North (Makes me weep, I swear it was written for me)

You're Beautiful (radio version) by James Blunt (I've loved this song forever, Ben makes fun of it all the time...he does quite the impersonation.)

Love Story by Taylor Swift (*sigh* the video is even better)

Sweet Home Alabama by Lynrd Skynard (classic)

Spiderwebs by No Doubt (for running)

Just a Girl by No Doubt (for running)

Sweet Escape (clean version) by Gwen Stefani (for running)

Circus by Britney Spears (I could run for miles to this song, it's catchy...but the video...very bad, it's sad that she has to be half naked to promote everything)

Real World by Matchbox Twenty (I LOVE this guys voice, it's for running too)

Ice Ice Baby By Vanilla Ice (we've discussed this already :)

I Want You to Want Me (Live) by Cheap Trick (I'm a child of teenage parents in the late 70's...this was my FAVORITE song growing up...I still love it!)

Take It On the Run by REO Speedwagon (same deal, I saw them in concert with my aunt and uncle when I was little...I thought it was the best thing ever...still do ;)

See...told you. I'm weird. Now it's your turn, tell me your craziest ipod song...I might want to get it :)

My friend Beth hosted a contest to pick a name for her new camera and I WON! Prize: $15 itunes card! YAY! I'm sure you're on the edge of your seat to find out my next 15 songs ;)

  3. don't tell anyone, but you can always find my husband doing the running man and singing word for word whenever vanilla ice comes on...lol...it's great! ahem...he almost had that as the song the guys walk down to at our wedding! don't feel so weird now, do ya?!

  4. It's comforting to know that not sharing a common taste in music can still lead to fruitful marriages. (My fellow and I have TOTALLY different music tastes, too!)

And as for Tenth Avenue North... I'll admit, I was a *wee* bit worried before I ever heard them that it would be a boy band phenomenon... but I fully admit their whole CD is the BOMB and in frequent rotation! Do you have their song "Beloved"? If not, you need to buy the tune!!!

So I assume by CRAZY iPod music, that would likely mean secular. Cuz that's what we Christians do when we go crazy. Who needs alcohol or drugs when there's secular music to listen to? ;) So going by that definition... um... my iPod running faves include:

"Fergalicious" by Fergie (edited version) What better way to get pumped up to exercise than with the classic lyrics--My body stay vicious, I be up in the gym workin' on my fitness--He's my witness?) I like to capitalize the "H" in He's my witness, and by doing so, have now effectively changed aforementioned secular song into something that reminds me of God.

"What Goes Around Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake.

"Pocketful of Sunshine" and "Put Your Arms Around Me" by Natasha Bedingfield... She is so fun, I love her stuff! Both of these songs remind me of God, too...

"Going Under" and "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence... And if you are noticing a trend, more God references. My spirit's sleeping somewhere cold, until you find it there and lead it back home. Wake me up inside, call my name and save me from the dark... Only You are the life among the dead. See, isn't it obvious? :)

There are, of course, many many more, but those are some common staples on the treadmill.

And on another total sidenote, my word verification for this post is "patorses". I am henceforth pronouncing this puh-tor-sees, and have determined it the irregular plural for "patorsee"... which I believe looks like a synonym for "tushie". So go forth, with your green iPod in hand, and work your patorsee off!

  8. Glad to know I'm not the only one with diverse musical tastes :) My fave workout song: Family Affair by Mary J. Blige (the clean version of course :)

  9. One time I downloaded "Let Us Break Bread Together" (the hymn) and Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" in the same sitting. I think that's my record for eclectic. I love your choices!

  10. Oh gosh, you would open this can of worms. :)

Two of my favorite crazy/secular songs: "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley & "The Reason" by Hoobastank.

I just can't handle Britney. Can't do it. And I haven't heard a single Justin Timberlake song since N'Sync broke up.

As far as others on my iPod (just for listening, not necessarily working out), Gin Blossoms - my all time fave secular band. I was a 90's teen, what can I say? I also like classic Aerosmith like their 70s stuff and the Big Ones album. I have Jack Johnson's 1st album (Brushfire Fairytales - awesome!!) on there as well as Dashboard Confessional's 1st album too. I have several (clean!) songs from the Monsters of Rap album - you know, the old school early 90s rap when Will Smith was still Fresh Prince. I also have some David Gray, Daughtry, & old Nickelback. I even have (gasp!) Gangsta's Paradise - again the clean version!! - on there. I know, I'm such a sinner. :)

Have you ever listened to Family Force 5? They are a Christian band but they are pretty weird. I really like the song "Luv Addict." My youth girls heard me listening to it and said they were completely surprised I listened to such "cool" music. Whatev. I know I'm old & lame in their eyes. :)

SO glad you listed Matchbox 20. I still have my original CD from high school of their first album.

This was fun! Sorry I left you a novel! :) My tastes are weird, too.

  11. "I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit rock 'n roll
I'm a little bit of Memphis and Nashville
With a little bit of Motown in my soul
I don't know if it's good or bad
But I know I love it so
    I'm a little bit country
And I'm a little bit rock 'n roll"

    Great Karaoke tune! : )

Also, I went to see Brit in concert with my mom, haha and Jeff Kinion!

  18. Our musical tastes are similar. Mine is vastly different from my husbands too. He like the slow, melodic (i.e. depressing) songs and I like something with a little more pep to it. My iTunes has everything from 4-Him to 10th Ave North to Alison Krauss to Midnight Rider from the Allman Bros and Sweet Child of MIne by Guns and Roses ( the last two are very good walking songs).
