I got my hair cut. Again. I can't help myself. I can't explain it, but my hair needs to be different, even if it's just a little bit. I like to try new things. It makes life fun. This hair cut makes me feel like a rock star...literally.
Funny thing though...in real life, people have opinions. And you know what...they like to share them...even when ya haven't asked for them ;) Anyone have this happen?!? It's an interesting phenomenon.
Not everyone appreciates my constant tweaks with my hair. Apparently, when you happen across a style they like, they expect you to keep it that way...indefinitely. For me, that is never. gonna. happen. At least not likely.
You see, I'm a firm believer you can like your hairstyle and still change to another one. Cutting edge, I know.
I think there should be some hair rules that we all live by. I might get them printed on a t-shirt that I will then wear for several days after a haircut...just to prove my point.
Here's my new rules:
1) If I ask for your opinion, then let me have it. If not...a simple smile will do.
2) A girl can do with her own hair as she pleases. If the same hair cut for 10 years is what you like, so be it. If you like to change it up, go right ahead.
3) I feel like a rock star...which doesn't really fit, but I think I pretty much wrapped up the rules in #1.
Any rules you wanna add?
What was it our mamas' always said? "If you can't say somethin' nice..." Many opinions on hair in my corner of the worldn too...but they come to me like this: "Oh, I SO like your new cut/style. I didn't like your hair AT ALL when you did X." Lovely, backhanded compliment, no? {eye-roll} La vie. Half the time *I* don't care what my hair looks like (unless it looks bad), so why would I care what YOU think? LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love that you change things up a bit. I think that variety IS the spice of life. Keep it up...and send me a T-shirt when you get them printed, k?
Monday smiles,
-J
Um...why I just made "Mamas" plural possessive, I have no idea. Please accept my deepest apologies. I really do speak/read/write English as my first language. Worse, I've taught it to others... {deep pit of grammar-error induced despair}

LOVE the new "do" You rawk Girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteI Love It!!
ReplyDeleteRock ON!
I just chopped mine even more! Got a few comments...but the ones that don't even notice drive me even crazier! How can you see me every day and not notice I got the back wedged way short! Ugh!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are gorgeous...love the hair!
ReplyDeleteYou are one rebellious pastor's wife ;o) (that is from one to another). Love, love, love the hair. I do the same thing. Cut, cut, cut. ;o)
ReplyDeleteSo...are you clever enough that you know what you want each time you go in to get styled? I love to change it up...but I rely on my gal to know what to do. I usually mix it up a bit more w/my color. I used to be a natural blonde and believe that is how my hair should look...
ReplyDeleteAs for 'opinions' I get the straight up honest scoop from my kids...not my real one...my third graders at school. They really let me have it...there are no social filters established yet. You should have a hair cut slide show on your blog, then some of us could just pick on of your styles and take it in to our gals.
;-)
OK, your hair is FABULOUS, so just ignore them! I WISH I could pull that style off, because you are "rocking" it and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm one of the 10 year girls (I think I'm 5 years into a 10 year plan LOL). There's just certain styles that look better on my big fat face. :) I have changed it up a little as far as bangs and layers go, but it's pretty much the same style with a few cosmetic adjustments. I give my stylist a little creative licenses as long as she doesn't go too crazy. She's just about convinced me to get a straightner, just for styling purposes since my hair is already board-straight. Sigh. We'll see. :)
To each his own, I say! :)
How funny - my word verif is "paster"
*smile*
ReplyDeleteHallo,
ReplyDeleteyour new haircut is great! Being a pastor's wife too, I'm really convinced of doing with your hair whatever you please.
Apologies for any spelling or grammarmistake in this comment. You see even in Germany people are commenting on your new style ;-)
the hair is rockin and i'm lovin it, makes me want to do the same, and since you are pretty AND thin, you can pull anything off...yay for you for doing what you please!
ReplyDeleteLove the hair
ReplyDeleteLove the lady!
Be blessed!
Lorie
How about... "no, Im not worried, and yes it can grow back, if that's what I want."
ReplyDeleteI love your hair, totally chic! Im singing, Superchick's One Girl Revolution in honor of you...
You are totally rockin'! Love it - even tho you didn't really ask:)
ReplyDeleteI say.......... so what you want, UNLESS what you want is a perm!! LOL Then you better believe I'll be screaming "No!" at you, all the way to the salon!! Looks cute Sarah..... I may do that with my little Paige's hair next time. I live vicariously thru my 4 yr olde daughters cute hair styles!! (sad, I know).

Pay not attention to the type-o's in my comment!!!

LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry, you didn't ask for my opinion! :P
Every time I see your new style, it makes me want to go cut my own hair. I think its time. I used to be like you. And then I grew my hair out. And suddenly the thought of cutting it makes me seize up in panic. It must be stopped!!
LOVE the haircut. I am at work with one of my co-workers. Obviously working really hard and she too is a pastor's wife like us.
ReplyDeleteWe both say a pastor's wife need a little sass. And you got it with that new 'do.
I bet your stylist loves you! I'm a 5-year-same-style kind of a person then chop it off. Then hate it and want it to grow back. :) That's where I am right now - growing it back. So you can expect 5 years of long hair from me. I hear hair changes after pregnancy though - I wonder if that will change my "do"... :)
ReplyDeleteMegan
I got nothing to add. I do agree with what what Michelle said "Hello! Notice anything different?" My FIL asked me on Chricstmas Eve if something was different with my hair, did I get it cut?
ReplyDeleteYeah, umm a month ago! It was shaggy and needed a cut but I couldn't get in just before christmas, so I went after, and he never said anything about the new do when he saw me at the birthday party...maybe tht means he hated it! Ha ha ha. (Oh, that makes me laugh)
Ok, back to you sorry. Sarah, you kow I think you have the worlds most perfect hair. Your cuts are so cute, curly, straight it makes no difference, you ALWAYS look sweet and sassy. I bet your hair is really soft too, like it sat with deep conditioner on all night.
You do look rockin' Are you going to shoot a video for us!?!? :)
Me? I love that hair.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way. I let my hair grow long, then cut it, grow it, cut it. I also do this with my living room furniture. I get bored easy.
ReplyDeleteRock on, girl! Nothing at all wrong with having an adventurous spirit. I love your new hair! Come to think of it, every stinking hairstyle you've had looks adorable! = )
ReplyDeleteO' I am totally about change. I love it, long for it, and get excited about it. I also love new trendy cuts but. . . I am really trying to let my hair grow (not long just to the top of my shoulders). I am tired of high maintenance cuts and just want to be able to pony tail it! sounds crazy doesn't it but it just gets old drying, styling, curling, etc.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your new rock star look, what an adorable cut but how could it not be its on an adorable woman!
You ARE a rock star, and not just because of your hair but because of your rockin' blog, too. I think I like this style the best of all you've had, but hey, it's OK if you want to change it even as you read this!
ReplyDeletegreat new style!!!! I think a rule should be added for coloring!! I color my hair and since I am going to color it anyway (read, hide all the grey) then I want to have fun and try new colors....I change my hair style quite often too, but mostly my color.....drives my mom crazy!! :)
ReplyDeleteI just want to add that if you are a spouse and asked if you like it, say you like it, even if you don't!!!! Cause It's already cut and you can't change it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Smiles!!!
I change my hair up a lot too, so I agree with your rules.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great! Not that you asked. :)
You are one brave chick!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
This is my favorite cut on you.
ReplyDeleteI am also trying to constantly change my cut and colors. A lot of the time it only looks somewhat different, and other times it's more drastic.
I'd just tell whoever to "shut it," in the nicest possible way, of course.
It looks awesome! That's the kind of look I wish I could pull off. My hair is stick straight and on me those kinds of cuts look like a mess. LOL! It's your hair - do what makes YOU happy. :D
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! But you know, being the wife of the pastor, they all think they rule you. And I don't mean that hateful. Know how us southern baptists think and I always try to give the preachers wife a break. She so needs it! Can just imagine what you have to endure.:)
ReplyDeleteThose sound like great rules to live by. I love your cut! You are a total rock star!
ReplyDeleteI love it! You rock!
ReplyDeleteFun! I want to see the back and sides too.
ReplyDeleteFirst...I love your hair.
ReplyDeleteSecond, as facebook friends, you know we share the obsession to frequently change hairstyles. I'm even toying with adding a funky color streak to mine, like pink or blue, which in many ways DOES NOT FIT me at all, but it would be oh so fun.
I'm also seriously praying about writing a Bible Study ciric. for women that weaves in some hair stories...It seems shallow, but honestly is not.
LOVE LOVE it the best so far!!! way cute! yes, to the slide show idea, and yes, to wanting to see the back. Do you realize that you change your hair more often than the times we three go "out" so this is the only way I get to see them ALL!!! haha! that's funny!
ReplyDeletei think it's my fav of yours! you always have cute hair though...
ReplyDeletethis style does look very extra spicey! :-) love it!
you do look like a rockstar! this is my favorite hairstyle of yours yet!!! seriously, if i wore my hair short i'd so be taking your photo to my gal to get the "Nashville Life in the Parsonage" look! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your rock star hair!!!
ReplyDeleteCan you add a rule for me?
Rule: Don't ask me if I meant to do this to my hair! Of course I intended this color and cut.
-FringeGirl
I love your rules and love love love your hair. I like to change mine, too. After your adorable cut, I feel like getting mine cut again (been trying to grow it out). Love it, Sarah!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it and I love the fact that you change it up! :)
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I want to add is a hearty AMEN! :) And, I love your hair!
ReplyDeleteThat rocks!!!!! Just think of it this way: it says in the Bible to keep up your appearance for your husband, right? You are just being a GREAT example to all the women of the church. :) Too cute!
ReplyDeleteno rules for you here..
ReplyDeleteand not that my opinion matters..
but you always look way stinking cute, ALWAYS!!
AND... i love the rock star look. love it, you are adorable and COMPLETELY pull it off. you should start a girl band.
So great Sarah! I really like it. And so agree that people who think you need their negative opinions are just plain rude. :)
ReplyDeleteYOu do a great job of just being you. I really admire that about you.
Rule #1 should surely be
ReplyDeleteJust tell me that my hair rocks. Because it does.
:)
I am living vicariously through you- I would probably change my hairstyle more often, but that would not be good for my husband's heart! :) and yet he encouraged me to pierce my nose- strange, I know.
ReplyDeleteRock Star Momma!
ReplyDeleteI felt that way about being pregnant. Everyone has an opinion.
