This cupboard used to sit in the hallway upstairs. It held 1/2 my clothes. Apparently, when they built houses 100+ years ago, they didn't have a ton of clothes that they stored but rarely wore. Interesting. Makes me think maybe I don't need to have them either....more on that tomorrow...back to my point...we moved it from upstairs to the living/dining room and it's gonna get some paint, I just have to decide on a color...probably will be black. Open it up and:
and notice the fantastic labels :)...I know, I know, it's a tad excessive...but you know me, it's all or nothin'. I even used recycled containers, which makes me a little light green I think :)
I added these to the table, and you know what...they make me happy. And the boys have only destroyed a few of them thus far. Considering our record around here, I think that's pretty impressive. (yep, they're real)
The next project was the bathroom. It needed some happiness.
Before: Shower curtain
The after, much happier version:
It was out with the brown and taupe towels and in with the yellow and green.*sigh* It really does help. I'm not done yet though...more to come...when I figure it out :)
And last but not least, tomorrow will be more on my organization tangent. And in honor of my love for the book, and the fact that pretty much everyone that commented said they NEED it, I'm gonna do a give-away...OF THE BOOK! YAY! But ya can't register to win till tomorrow...see you then!
Great ideas . . . I have the book ordered . . . I too am in the purging movement . . . too much stuff and the kids really can't keep their stuff cleaned up - it is everywhere.

I was just thinking the same thing about the clothes this morning! How strange. I was remembering the closet I had growing up and how small it was. And the fact that it wasn't even full! Great minds and all that...
ReplyDeletelove the fruit! I saw someone at Christmas had made a garland for the fireplace of limes. It was so pretty and smelled great and as they dried, they even looked better!!

YAY! I was actually thinking of making a tip to Books-A-Million... not just because it's next door to Target... and my beloved Starbucks, but to pick up a copy of "THE BOOK".
ReplyDeleteI think black is a great color for that cabinet. I think that, because I love black furniture and I also believe that every room needs a little black. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat face lift in that bathroom!

Don't you just love a label maker?!?! I love mine. I really like your new towel colors!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree.
ReplyDeleteI think I am about to give some things around my house a color/label makeover.
FOR.SURE.
Older house don't have many closets because property taxes used to be determined based on the number of rooms in a house. Each closet counted as a room, so closets were few. Consider this your worthless trivia fact for the day! :)
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I'm in purging mode too and wish Spring were a wee bit closer so that I don't have to store all of the garage sale items! Like you, I am in the process of purging clothing! I really only feel "good" in 2-3 of the outfits I own anyway!
ReplyDeleteSarah, I need the book. This dis-organized lady is supposed to teach a Family and Community Education class on February 16 – Organizing and Managing Your Life (Closets, files, papers, etc.) I need to put it into practice and I have only a little over a month to do it. I did not even get all my Christmas decorations on my Christmas tree and now it is still up. Help! Arlona
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! The little touches do so much for your outlook & mood of the home. We have been in a purge & clean mode for the last month, very satisfying, mostly. :)
ReplyDeleteColors really do effect our moods. Your sprucing-up looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love all your cheery updates, including the green script!
ReplyDeleteI love the new shower curtain and towels! I've often laughed at yellow towels in the store. Who buys yellow towels?! Now I know and they look great! Laugh no more! Thanks for the little burst of happiness! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay I had to come back after all these days and ask...where did you get that shower curtain? I love it! Some sunshiney colors are just what my bathroom needs!
