Giddy

This is what I woke up to today.

And despite the fact that...

  • we still have 5 pumpkins sitting on our front steps
  • and pots with dead plants in them by the same front door
  • and a yard that has yet to be raked free of leaves
  • I haven't bought snow boots for the oldest yet
  • or dug out everyone else's from the attic
  • It's early November....

I am positively GIDDY! The fact that it will probably all be melted by lunch time also helps the giddiness factor...but there is just something exciting about the first snow...or every snow...no matter what a big pain in the butt it is, there's no denying how pretty a fresh coat of white makes everything.

Jake keeps looking out the window exclaiming "Look! It snowed at the neighbors house too!" and when he see the next neighbor's house, he announces the same thing :) It never gets old...

Guess what we're doing tonight? Yep...going to get some snow boots...because if we have them, it's guaranteed not to snow anymore ;)

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

  2. This WI girl has the same love/hate relationship with snow....it is gorgeous, but after 100+ inches you wish it would just quit it already!!

  3. NO FAIR! We want some snow too!

Actually we have a slight chance of getting some tomorrow.

Probably right in the middle of our football playoff game just to make everyone happy to be sitting out in the snow.

    We love it until about the middle of January and then we are ready to move on :}

    Hugs!

  4. Would you please post another letter to the snow and ask it to hold off until the 19th? It seemed to work last time!

  5. Oooohhhhh, it's soooooo prettttttyyy! I want some! But just for like, one or two days. And then on Christmas Eve and Christmas day! And then no more until next year.

*sigh* But it only snows here once every 9 or 10 years, and it's so little that it sort of turns to mud before you can build anything with it. I still love to see it though! It's soooo pretttyyy!

  7. I have to admit that i look at that picture and I don't miss it AT ALL!!! I am so happy to be back in the south with mild winters. Most likely my growing up in Arizona has something to do with it...but I will agree that that first snow is nice!! :)

Get the boots. We had a huge dump in IN one year, bought a snow blower, and never used it again! ha!

  8. I do miss snow as an occasional thing, but today, I woke up giddy that it was going to be 80 degrees here. I'm thinking we live in different parts of this country. Wadda you think? ;-)
Enjoy!! Then send a tiny bit my way, say around Christmas...
    Smiles!

  10. I just posted a few days ago about the snow we got Nov. 2 (it melted the next day) and how it was too early for me! We have a long winter with a fair amount of snow but after reading these comments, I guess I should be happy we get to experience all the seasons in all their glory! I need to get winter boots and snow suits so I hope it holds off a bit longer!

  12. Same here! Only I confess I don't feel all the giddy about it.

    But same as in
no boots, no winter clothes out yet, pumpkins on the porch, dead plants, etc.

You're right though, it will melt. I hope. :)

  14. Ooooo...snow!

I started pulling out boots, gloves, and such earlier this week. I am not ready for the clutter that it brings, but I am looking forward to the snow.

  15. I just got off the phone with Trish and was so surprised when she said y'all got snow! It is 65 and sunny here right now and usually we have very similar climates. Although alot of the time we get your weather the very next day. :) Maybe tomorrow! I'm like you, I get SO giddy about it. :)

  18. I love to curl back in bed knowing I am warm and cozy and it is freezing cold outside...I'm sorry I just woke up from a daydream. I have a 15 month old. Nevermind.

  22. I'm actually jealous - we usually have lots of the white stuff up here by now. It's just cold. If it's going to be cold, I want snow to at least make it look pretty, instead of dead grass and ugly flower beds! ;)

  23. i don't care for cold weather but snow i really enjoy looking at... everything white is just beautiful. my oldest was talking yesterday about building a snowman. maybe soon!

  26. I do miss the snow from Ohio. Especially the very first snow...

The leaves have just started to turn down here.

  27. There is nothing like the first snow of the season....makes me feel so nostalgic. :) Hope you enjoyed it before it melted away by lunchtime!

  28. Go. Now. Buy the snow boots.

We had the same slushy coating this morning. I didn't know whether to smile or weep. I agree that there's something magical about that first snow (although I don't know if today's coating counts). It's just hard to deny the magnitude of what's coming, like it or not.

  32. I'm so jealous! I live in Colorado and we hanen't had any snow yet. My 3-year-old daughter is all excited about it an the forecasters keep saying it will happen and then... nothing.

I guess I should be glad for 60 degree days, right?

    Great picture!

  33. OMGosh girl, At least it is feeling like Christmas...:)

  34. Snow makes everything seem clean and new. I love how Jake was all excited that it even snowed at the neighbors house. So precious.

I'm remembering a song we sang back when I was in Mrs. Dotseth's preschool class, "Oh, it snowed last night, it snowed last night, the sky bears had a pillow fight, they tore up every cloud in sight..." that's all I can remember.

We still have pumpkins out and we have already raked leaves a godzillion times but yet it looks like we have done nothing. it's kinda like shoveling the snow before it stops snowing...doesn't happen!

  38. You just had to rub it in, didn't you?

Well, bet you're not wearing shorts.

  39. how fun!

lily doesn't think it is winter until it snows...so i guess winter only happens in her world once every few years.
