We've had two unwelcomed guests in the parsonage this week. Both arrived on Sunday. Hate when that happens.
Neither of them were invited, and truthfully...they should know better. Showing up all unannounced. How rude.
I have no choice but to address them...publicly...to let them know that they cannot do this again and to warn all others of their kind to please show better manners in the future.
To The Snow Flurries: Umm, how do I say this nicely? I loathe you when you come in October. Too soon. Come back in December...you can even stay through January, but if you could pack up and move out after that, I'd be ever so happy. Thank you kindly.
To Mr. Mouse: I will address you as one, because the thought of there being plural of you makes me want to...I don't know...barf, I guess. I understand it's getting chilly out, but you must find another place to live....OUTSIDE. I also understand that there is a plethora of food all over our floor...I do not care. You cannot live here. I feel it's my duty to give you fair warning that there is now poison lining the perimeter of our home, inside and out, as well as poison tasty treats. Don't say I didn't warn you.
My Sincerest Regards,
Sarah @ Life in the Parsonage
YOU SAY IT GIRL!!! I am so right with you!
ReplyDeleteMuch too early for snow or flurries!
MICE - I wrote a whole post about mouse traps a week ago - you should check it out!
Hugs Dear Friend!
You crack me up. You sound so calm about that mouse. I need to share a little secret with you (don't tell anyone!)...I am terrified of those cute little furry creatures. If I know one is in the house, I don't sleep. If I see it, well, lets just say that high frequency ear muffs are necessary. I hope you get the little guy.
ReplyDeleteick! I wouldn't mind so much the snow (we never get any) ~ but Mr. Mouse has gotta go! When we first were married one of those ugly little creatures got in our house and I would not stay by myself. David came home one afternoon to find me sitting on the porch in tears. It was either that mouse or me. And believe me I was so ready to pack up my bags and leave. Thanksfully, we got the little stinker. can't.stand.them.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny!
ReplyDeleteWe had Mickey or Minnie stop for a visit recently & we used poison. So, the rat (mouse is too nice of a word) died. We knew he did because we could smell his rotting carcass. Hmmm, but where was the varmint?? My husband had to crawl under the house, get into the ductwork, etc. to find Mr. Nasty. Since then, we put out traps!
Happy hunting!!
i thought i kept a pretty clean house but in the last week & a half we have caught two mice. one being in my closet. so gross to think that it may have been in a couple of my shoes. good luck to catching your little friend soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the mouse....yuck -- but I've been there!
ReplyDeleteBut one the snow flurries-- being in NC - I will take snow whenever it comes and today we have flurries, too....=)
My girls were excited -- even though you can only see it on rooftops.
Oh, I feel for you! Snow and mice? Yuck!
ReplyDeleteWow you are one tough cookie. I am glad I am not a mouse. I wouldn't mind the snow though but not in October.
ReplyDeleteJay heard snow in the forcast last night and he could barely contain his excitement. He woke up this morning and the weather didn't do what the weather guys said it owuld - no snow. He was SO bummed. :) Made me smile when I read your post.
ReplyDeleteWe get mice often since we live in an old farm house surrounded by fields. I am NOT a fan. :) I have also learned there is never just one. Just thought I would send you that little piece of sunshine today. :)

Last winter when we returned from a lovely Christmas holiday we found that a very "lovely" family of mice had moved into MY LAUNDRY ROOM!
ReplyDeleteI only discovered them by accident... by accidentally putting my foot too close to the washing machine!!! AGH! UGH! SCREAMS OF FEAR AND OUTRAGE!
The next day we chased 3 of them out of the house with brooms... If I had a video camera we could have won $1,000,000 on AFV!
Now we have these lovely "bait stations" hiding in corners throughout our house. :)
Umm...can I just say, I'm not sure why my comment posted three times. Now I feel like a dork.
ReplyDeletesnow flurries - ugh! i'm not ready for that!
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to snow flurries too!! What in this world?
ReplyDeleteMom Mc just emptied a mouse trap for us. They are even upstairs in our house, so not cool! I understand the downstairs, but yesterday one greeted me as I opened our bedroom door! I found a window that had been blown open in the basement.. No screen. GREAT! There are sure to be a bunch. By the by, I do not recomend poison. It slows their blood circulation and makes them seek warmer places, like say the coils in your fridge, no joke. Dead rotten mouse plus heat, Not good for the essence of ones home. I tried sticky traps, but then they were stuck, but alive. Now I found sticky traps with anistetic. It grabs them and knocks them out, then you throw away the whole deal!
ReplyDeleteYou can thank Don by the way for the mouse info on poison. I know you just LOVE all the info he shares :)
Your comments to a mouse remind me of an old British poem. :) You could probably find it on the internet if you were really interested. It's called "To A Mouse" and it's written by Robert Burns. You basically summarize the whole poem. :)
ReplyDeleteMegan
Snow flurries in Oct.? I agree, that is much too early!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have snow flurries - in SC we almost never get snow! I heard it is supposed to "flurry" in Asheville NC today, which is only about 1 hr away from us. I don't like unwelcomed visitors either, hope they are gone soon:)
ReplyDeleteOh girl, snow in October AND a mouse!?! Yikes. I understand your distress. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteyou are so kind to warn mr. mouse that he is about to die!
ReplyDeleteCompletely impressed with your big word...plethora! My husband likes to use that word in a sentence about his knowledge...:0
Aaaaahhhh...a mouse! What a Sunday you had! Hopefully you're taking it easy today after all that nonsense. :-)
ReplyDeleteI would not want those either. You have my prayers, sister!
ReplyDelete(PS bacon and peanut butter work great for the traps... don't ask me how I know this.)
Snow flurries already?? Ugh! Maybe time for a Parsonage kitty!
ReplyDeleteSnow already? Ick.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hate to tell you, but mice are rarely loners. My sympathies.
When we bought this house it had been vacant. We caught something like 12 mice. A low point was the day one came out of the toaster oven while we were eating lunch. My husband could not understand why I insisted on getting a new one. "Just turn it on real high for awhile and it will be sterilized."
I won that one. :-)
It reminds me of living in Maine...snow and mice...ugh!
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! We have snow in the forcast for tomorrow and I feel the same way. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteEek!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, sad is it is to say, my family used to keep little fuzzy rodents -- gerbils, hamsters, etc. -- as pets...So...mice do not bother me too bad, but I would not want one loose in my house!!
aw sarah- but they are so very nice. their tails are long, their teeth are white, they run about the house all night... they nibble things they shouldn't touch and no one seems to like them much, but don't you think that mice are nice??
ReplyDeleteok so offically slipping off my rocker here at my house..
OH! Snow already?
ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Ohio, I firmly believed that the only thing worse than early snow is snow in MAY.
No mice here...yet... We've still got nasty bugs though.
I hate mice too. And snow, well, I would probably hate it if we ever had it around here. We usually get one lousy snow a year if we're lucky. But it was actually snowing this afternoon so it is really weird weather for us.
ReplyDeletesnow i could tolerate but mice? eek (eek/squeak...aren't i funny?) okay, so your situation is not funny. hope the mouse finds somewhere else to live!
ReplyDeleteYuck! I think it is totally acceptable for you to assume it is a single mouse, unmarried, unattached & living the single life as a batchelor. Denial can be a lovely place to live! But he really must go, it's so rude to come without an invite even if there is free food. I know my single sons tend to visit people with food, hopefully they are invited though!
ReplyDeleteThe flurries, I wouldn't mind so much. The mouse (or mice???)...totally different story. Yikes! How nice of you to give them fair warning about the poison. :)
ReplyDeleteoh, poor thing, he was probably was just as caught off guard as you were with the october snow.
ReplyDeletecome to texas, i haven't seen any mice and it is going to be 80 here on friday.
Jealous of the snow flurries, but not the mouse.
ReplyDeleteI was still wearing shorts until yesterday. Boo.
SNOW?? We just turned off our A/C yesterday!!! Of course, we have gigantic electric bills, though!
ReplyDeleteyipes!! we have a kitty this winter so hoping for no mice and no surprise presents of dead ones on my pillow from my sweet kitty..
ReplyDeleteand i have a huge zit on my chin
just throwin that in....to make you feel better
