I have till Friday to get things in order around here.
I have been waiting all summer for this...for Friday, August 8th, 2008.
My name is Sarah, and I am an Olympic Lovin' Fool.
I am. I can hardly contain myself. This is my favorite favorite favorite.
And this is my next favorite. Oh, who am I kidding. I love it all. Even the press announcers.
My boys are too little to remember the last Olympics (which means they don't remember mommy sitting in front of the TV for hours at a time)...this time...they will. I've been trying to explain to them what the Olympics is and represents...the best of the best. I'm not sure they get it yet...but after 2 weeks of endless TV coverage and cereal *wink* for supper...I'm sure they will :)
There. Now you know. If I am absent from blog world next week, it is only because I am doing my basic American duty...Supporting Team USA from my couch (while eating cereal.) CAN'T WAIT!

Whee-ha! I can't wait either. And I love it all, too! I realized this past weekend that I scheduled a ministry event for FRIDAY NIGHT! Uh, let's just say there has been a sudden need to reschedule... ;-)
ReplyDeleteLookin' forward to cheering with you,
-J
My husband has talked about renting a BIG flat screen for the next few weeks so we can watch in style. I don't even remember him being that into the Olympics for the last few times they have been on. I think it is just a ploy to get a big screen into the house.
ReplyDeleteI too love the gymnastics and diving! I just wish that in the evening broadcasts they would quit talking all the time and show the sports! The other thing that drives me nuts about the coverage is that they seem to wait until 10/11 to show all the good stuff! I am afraid I will be quite sleep deprived the next few weeks!
USA! USA! USA!
I will not underestimate your ability to for go blogging. I am sure we will hear from you! I think the last Olympics I viewed were in 98'. I am so un American as to not have TV. I will miss them, but I don't really have time for them anyway.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you! And those are my two favorites too!
ReplyDeleteI just hope there are no international crises to ruin the fun!
We are crazy over the swimming event. The boys love to swim and so the swimming relays caught their attention.
ReplyDeleteI'll be with you, too. I was so glad that VBS didn't conflict!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya, sista!
ReplyDeleteLove me some OLYMPICS!
Swimming, Diving, Track & Field and Gymnastics are my FAVES!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more! As soon as the summer games go by I'll be counting down until the winter games too!
ReplyDeleteI know!! 08.08.08! I've been waiting a long time for this too! I LOVE the Olympics. So great! I love the rings (gymnastics)... they seem to go against the laws of Physics. How can people be that strong??
ReplyDeleteLove it and can't wait.
I am sooo with you!!! The only other event that gets my complete attention is the US Open tennis!!! So, this august I may not get much done around here!!!
ReplyDeleteOh you know you'll have to blog about it!! You can't help yourself! Can't wait to read the commentary!
ReplyDeleteGIRL!!! I KNEW WE WERE SOUL BUDDIES! I AM OLYMPIC FANAIC! WE ARE HAVING AN OPENING CEREMONY PARTY WITH OUR FRIENDS WHO ALSO HAVE ADOPTED FROM CHINA. WE SAW ALL OF THE OLYMPIC BUILDINGS BEING BUILT AND I AM MORE THAN PUMPED ABOUT IT!
ReplyDeleteWow...I don't know why, but I'm so surprised to see that so many are into the Olympics. I totally love it!!! I am really excited...I would love to go someday and watch live and in person. I love it all, but women's soccer is at the top of my list. WooHoo!
ReplyDeleteI just hope you and your family have a withdrawl plan in place....you know, weaning yourself slowly off the Olympics and cereal....just thinking of your welfare (and that of your kids) who would hate to see what happens when mommy goes off the Olympics cold turkey!
ReplyDeleteBesides, we all know what you'll REALLY be up to this next week...while you are shunning us!
ReplyDeleteTHE OLYMPICS!
HAHAHA
I didn't watch it last time and I have regrets ever since. :) I think I'll go look up the schedule. lol - I can just see your eyes glued to the tv dripping cereal down your chin cuz you just don't want to look away. :)
ReplyDeleteThe OLYMPICS - woohoo! I too am an obsessed, freakish Olympics watcher (my words, not yours!). I keep telling Samuel (3 1/2), "It's almost the Olympics" and everytime I turn on the tv, he says, "Is this the Olympics?" All week long, I've been counting the days until Friday...and now I'm even calculating in my head what time it is in Beijing and what's happening and what I'm missing! Oh yeah - it's THAT bad!
