It Has Begun...

The back to school shopping has begun.

I totally love back to school shopping...well, I love shopping anyways.

We started with shoes. Which may have been a bad place to start. Because ya'll know I have a certain weakness in regards to shoes...even boys shoes (even when the little rascals REFUSE pick the ones I like.) I had (sweet) dreams of my 3 little guys all with matching Converse Chucks (each a different color of course.) They'd be so cute...

They had other things in mind. Skechers. With Airators...which apparently blow air between your toes?!? Anyways, I suppose that's what I get for begging them to watch cartoons so I can have a "second" *cough* to blog. Dang marketing with all their commercials.

The store we went to was having the Buy one get one 1/2 off. Phew.

The Run-down. (Our school requires) The Kindergartner and First Grader each need 2 pairs of shoes. One to wear to school and out to recess (i.e. gets totally trashed) and one pair to wear inside that stays at the school.

The pair in the middle was for the 3 year old...because he still believes me when I say those are the ones he should get (well, sort of, he rejected my first choice.) By Golly, that counts for something.

You should note, that none of them have actual shoe strings...we are

"tie-ing challenged" in our home...do not judge...lest ye be judged. ;)

  1. We don't do much tie-ing, either (and my girl's almost 10). Actually, she'd live in flip flops all year round if I'd let her.

When do you guys start school? We just got out in mid-June, and don't go back til after Labor Day.

  2. We are "tie-ing challenged" as well. :)
I loved school shopping as a kid and I'm OVER THE TOP EXCITED about getting to go supply and clothes shopping with Chandler this year. Man, Kindergarten is going to be GREAT!!
I am nervous about the shoes. I have dream of cute white t-strap sneakers, but sadly they will be grey by the end of the first day of school... I'm just sure of it!!

  5. My girls go back on 8/18 and we have already gotten all the school supplies purchased. They can't wait to get back and I can' wait to send them! Love the summer but with softball and all the camps they go to, we have not been able to stay home all summer. Whew! School bus, please stop at my house :}

  6. Why does your school make the kids wear a different pair or shoes inside? That would never work at the school I used to teach at! We were lucky if the students had 1 pair of shoes, period!

  7. Hey...if the velcro shoe fits...buy it!

  8. I have started getting shoes around, but I REFUSE to buy any of the other supplies until August. I still hate that we are starting 8/18! I see they are having a "move things back into the school" day at the end of the month. Maybe if I protest and block the doors we can hold them off for a week or two! I just got the school calendar and they have at least one day off a month, why not put those on the front of the school year?!!! It's going to be soo hot for them!

  9. I've not heard of shoes that blow air between your toes! heehee they would have been SO cute in little Chuck Taylors!

I just love the new look of your blog! It's just so happy =P

  10. Melissa: They start Aug 18th...crazy, I know!

Heather: I think it's to help keep the floors clean. It is some sticker shock though...trust me when I tell you that the boys will be wearing these shoes until they either cannot fit their feet in them anymore or they will not stay on due to holes...in tiny-town were all about getting our moneys worth ;)

  12. I was able to get Sweet Pickle excited about some Airwalk kicks recently. That sounds fancy like I know what I'm talking about. I didn't know what they were called til I read the sticker. They look like converse. Very cool! I love them. He can't wear them to school though. No laces allowed in Kindergarten. I'll be shoe shopping for him soon, too!
And what is with them anyway, not letting us choose their clothes! I think part of it for me comes down to this: I can only afford clothes for one of us. Naturally they come first. If I can't buy what I want to wear, then please let me choose what I want YOU to wear! :)

  13. Those are some nice shoes! It seems like a lot but I guess not when you have 3 little guys running around.

I hear you on the shopping thing...I am excited for Savannah to go to school solely for the purpose of shopping for her. :)

  14. School supplies shopping - yuk!
We too must get that underway!

None of my boys know how to tie shoes - I guess we should teach that sometime!

  15. Hi! I just found your blog through my friend at Becoming Me. I'm with you on the shoe shopping. The school my kids go to won't let them wear any open toe shoes, meaning no crocs. My oldest is going into 2nd grade and is into Converse high tops. My daughter is going into Kindergarten and all she owns is flip flops (we live by the water down south). The youngest is going to preschool so thankfully we have a couple of years left for him. Love your blog, I will be back. Take care, Julie

  17. Just found you blog on "Married to the Ministry". I have three boys as well just a little bit older. I am embarrassed to say that my eleven year old does not tie either. But when you live in Florida, you wear flip-flops 9 months out of the year and who can remember how to tie for the remaining three months! So they just tuck the laces in their shoes, because it is a skater thing!

Love your blog and the great background!

  18. Okay- it worked! I posted my first comment on Beth's blog. I am addicted to this blog reading now!
This is so new to me (does this date me or mean I am technically challenged??)I love your blog!
Love the shoes, just bought the police skechers that light up for Jack. The poor kid will never learn to tie his shoes, they have velcro! Kim :)

  19. I love back to school shopping as well (even though I don't have a child in school yet!). It's the teacher in me that loves it.

I like that they don't have laces!

  20. I did say I loved your hair , right?

Anyway, my little one still has issues with the shoe-tying and she will be going to 2nd grade. With me having had taught 2nd grade, I keep warning her that 2nd grade teachers do not tie shoes. We'll see what happens in August.

  21. Where's your pair? If they were buy one get one 1/2 off, why did you only get 5 pairs. There is another 1/2 price pair out there all lonely and wishing it was in your closet.

    Love your haircut.
